City & Guilds courses
Although the three courses are taught online, I offer a tailored approach with support customised to each participant. As I like to get to know all my students, each course is run with a small cohort (not more than 20 people each time), along with an informal private Facebook group for everyone to get to know and support each other.
Each course consists of a series of modules. At the beginning of each module PDF documents and video links are emailed to you, followed shortly afterwards by a group zoom call allowing you to ask questions about the exercises. Once you have submitted your work for the module, tutorial slots are available to book. During these we will discuss your submission and what you are working on. Additionally, throughout the course, I am happy to provide further support through email.
There are two parts to each C&G qualification – Design and Craft – with both parts needing to be completed to gain the qualification. The design side helps you to explore and develop ideas and covers colour, texture, line, shape & form. The craft part helps you gain skills in the practice of the craft and knowledge of materials, techniques and processes.
Patchwork & Quilting (Level 3 Certificate)
Level Three Certificate will give you a thorough grounding in many forms of patchwork and quilting from around the world. It will increase your technical skills and to develop a good set of design tools. It will give you the basis for developing your own style and interests as well as your own working methods. The course runs over two years with 16 online modules.
Patchwork & Quilting (Level 3 Diploma)
Level Three Diploma will give you the knowledge and skill to extend and develop in many directions. It will give you the basis for developing your own style and interests as well as your own working methods. It will also give you an understanding of the history of the craft in the UK and the methods used by other contemporary practitioners. Much emphasis is placed on evaluating your own and other completed work, processes and techniques, which can then be used to inform future work. The course runs over two years with 12 online modules.
Creative Sketchbooks (Level 2 Certificate)
Level Two Creative Sketchbooks will give you the knowledge and skill to extend and develop in many directions. It will give you the basis for developing your own style and interests as well as your own working methods. As well as making beautiful sketchbooks, you will leave with lots of design ideas for future projects. The course runs over a year with 8 online modules.
